Founded in 1946, Church World Service (CWS) is the relief, development, and refugee assistance ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox, and Anglican denominations in the United States. Working in partnership with indigenous organizations in more than 80 countries, CWS works worldwide to meet human needs and foster self-reliance for all whose way is hard.

World Service - Asia Pacific Region
In 2007 CWS has operational Offices in Indonesia, East Timor,
Pakistan, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and these
offices are in the process of shifting resources (staff,
relationships, assets and financial resources) to a regional
focus, which will come into effect in a step by step manner.
One recent step in that direction has been the setting up of a
Regional Office in
Bangkok,

Service - Vietnam
CWS Vietnam began its work in Vietnam in 1954 in response to a refugee emergency. Since then, CWS Vietnam has supported Vietnam continuously with projects primarily focused on improving health services, access to water, nutrition for children, education for ethnic minorities and disaster relief.
Today, CWS Vietnam provides support in 5 main sectors:

CWS is currently working with
kindergartens, primary schools, boarding schools, communal clinics,
district health centers and hospitals in support with provincial, district
and communal partners. Projects are focused on Thai Nguyen and Lai Chau provinces.

CWS Directional Goal 1
Marginalized communities experiencing chronic hunger and poverty will achieve durable solutions that build peace and justice.
Food Security: Vulnerable households in food insecure communities will improve food security.
Livelihoods: Vulnerable households in marginalized communities will achieve sustainable livelihoods to meet their basic needs.
Education: Women and children in marginalized communities will have greater access to quality education.
Health: Women and children in marginalized communities will have greater access to health care, health resources, and health education
CWS Directional Goal 2
Communities experiencing crisis will achieve durable solutions that build or restore peace and justice.
Response & Recovery: Crisis affected households will be able to meet their basic needs and progress to recovery and rehabilitation.
Long-term Displaced: Long-term, forcibly displaced populations will receive support to address critical unmet needs as durable solutions are sought.
CWS Directional Goal 3
Partnerships will be strengthened build collaboration and solidarity.
Accompaniment and Interfaith Cooperation: CWS will identify and engage with interfaith initiatives to promote peace and justice.
Capacity Building and Civil Society: Where civil society is fragile, communities of faith and local civil society organizations will increase capacity to respond to community needs.
In Vietnam CWS focuses on: Goal 1, Education and Health, and Goal 3, Capacity Building and Civil Society
