Training and Capacity Building
Training and Capacity Building programs help CWS partners improve their services through training courses, resource materials, field study support, research projects and network support. CWS is working with the Women’s Studies Department of the Open University, The Women’s Union College, and the Thai Nguyen Teachers’ Training College to target almost 3,300 teachers and students.
Activities in 2004 include teacher training, provision of resource materials, upgrading of training facilities, support for student internships, training of women’s union members, business development courses, and support for the Vietnam Union of Friendship organizations.

“ CWS and Women Union College have the same concern that is helping people in the highlands to make their life better, especially focus on minority women and children. The project is very effective and meets the demands of the learners. The learners have gained the primary skills and knowledge about working methods in the minority communities. They practiced through the real situation from their communities, through group-work and role-play. They came to the field, gained the experiences and methods of helping women doing business, keeping fit, protecting environment, and taking care of children’s and women’s rights…. “

“Before the training course my working skills were very poor. Sometimes, I did not know how to explain something very simple to make people understand. Although I was enthusiastic and worked hard, I did not get high result, and did not bring many benefits to women. … The training course is easy to understand. It makes people to participate more initiatively…”
